[Throughout the past year of sobriety it has become part of my healing process to grieve the things I gave up and or lost, heroin being one of them]

Dear heroin,

You came like the winter snow, amidst the plain of the barren wasteland of my meager existence, reminding me that true love is never lost, if only for a moment.

Your blissful touch spoke heaven to my soul, eternally etching our names together forever in the cosmos, rescuing me from a painfully damned life of earthly servitude.

Your wondrous grace, so eloquent and pure, divinely tempted my spirit, daring me to dream for oh so much more than my mortal mind could even begin to fathom.

But somewhere amongst the fray, while our souls collided at the borderline of lost and found, in a moment of weakness you kissed my lips, so sweet, seductive, and tempestuous, revealing your true hellish intentions..

Causing the scales to fall from eyes, once and for all.
